How is my purchase tracked?

When you click through an offer on our site, a cookie gets placed on your browser and follows your transaction through checkout. When you complete checkout, the merchant sees that cookie and knows to confirm with us that you made a purchase. We get commission on those orders and share that with you through WOWPoints.

When you enter in a code that you found somewhere else on the web (even on the merchant's site), it wipes out our tracking cookie and the merchant instead sees that you were prompted to make the purchase through their "Free Shipping" or advertisement on X site or wherever else they had promotions running. That means that the merchant doesn't know to confirm your order with us. So not only do we not receive commission (and cannot award you WOWPoints), it tells the merchant that their promotion with X site or running Free Shipping promotions earned them that purchase.
